Oahu: Diamond Head Crater Walk
On this tour we take you on a walk up to the Diamond Head summit, where you will enjoy beautiful views of Waikiki and the Pacific Ocean at the top. Begin the day at the world-famous Diamond Head Crater on a personalized tour that highlights the formation of this unique scenic site and State monument. This custom journey will give you a sense of Hawaii's natural history, geology, and a cultural perspective of the island ways of life in days of old.
Your adventure will start with a three quarter of-a-mile (1.2 km) walk up 560 feet (170 meters) to the edge of the crater's rim. Although the trail not difficult, it is mostly unpaved as you walk up the interior crater slop along a switchback trail over uneven rock. You will ascend over 74 steps, through a tunnel, and up another 99 steps; then you will enter into a former military artillery facility built in 1908, climbing a narrow spiral staircase before reaching an observation platform. Beautiful 360-degree views await you from the top. The trail is rated easy to moderate.
Exceptional photo opportunities abound at this location. During the activity, your guide will point out the surrounding plant and bird species, describe Hawaii's unique geology, natural and cultural history.
