Oahu Rainforest Waterfall Hike & Snorkel
On this Oahu Windward bound adventure, guests will travel to a cloud-misted Hawaiian rainforest, amid lovely and unusual native trees and flowers, to a secluded, hidden waterfall cascading down forested cliffs of the Ko'olau mountains, and then spend the afternoon exploring as you snorkel the world famous, Hanauma Bay.
Your adventure starts in the heart of a majestic valley, which in ancient times was reserved for Hawaiian royalty. View the verdant rainforest, learn about the unique history, legends, cultural sites, and Polynesian plant species used in ancient times. We’ll travel past the dramatic Ko’olau mountains, where you will marvel at distant waterfalls cascading down the majestic peaks.
You'll find yourself at the base of the spectacular Pali Cliffs and hike through a mountain rainforest on private property to a towering waterfall that is truly inspiring. Listen to the delicate songs of mountain birds while you enjoy this unique place. From this vantage point you can experience the beauty of the windward side, with an unparalleled view of the turquoise waters of Kaneohe Bay. An excellent place to relax and reflect on the unusual beauty of the Hawaiian rainforest, and to capture a memorable photo in front of the waterfall.
During the hike, your guide will point out the surrounding plant and bird species, ancient archaeological sites, describe Hawaii’s unique natural and cultural history, and will demonstrate how plants were used in Hawaiian culture. This tour is sure to be one of the highlights of your vacation!
To make your trip a special, one-of-a-kind experience, you will be allotted time for a non-host picnic lunch at the beach while enjoying the coastline and reflecting on your recent stroll within lush rainforest areas, and exploration of the island. We also offer an exclusive private tour for small groups, so you can share your experience without altering your pace.
Next you'll travel the east- and south-facing coastlines and journey through charming Waimanalo town. While traveling near Makapu'u point lookout, you will marvel at the dramatic rocky sea cliffs before passing famous Sandy beach and the popular Halona Blow Hole.
This activity also includes snorkel time at the world famous, Hanauma Bay. Snorkel in a shallow coral reef area that features a variety of tropical fish and regular visits by green sea turtles. A portion of each tour price goes to support the effort to preserve and protect Hanauma Bay. There is a separate beach access fee paid by guests upon entrance at Hanauma Bay. As you snorkel you can expect to see a variety of tropical fish, including humu humu, akule, parrot fish, wrasse, snapper, and various other typical Hawaiian reef species. Sea turtles are occasionally present at the snorkeling location, and are not shy about swimming in close proximity to the snorkelers, which is a great experience for guests.
